Halloween 2008

I have to just say that although I am not excited about why Halloween began, I find it hard to not enjoy the reasons WE take part in Halloween. The kids love dressing up as I did when I was a kid, being together as a family and...  THE CANDY!!  We enjoyed Halloween this year with the kids dressing up as characters from "The Wizard of Oz"  My sister Kali showed my kids the movie a few months ago.  Jordyn wanted to be the wicked witch of the East-not the West. I wasn't too excited about her being a witch instead of say something cute and cuddly or something that had glitter and fairy wings. But dressing up in this theme with the other kids made it not such a big deal.  All Jordyn REALLY wanted was to be able to paint her face green anyway.
They all loved their costumes and enjoyed trick-or-treating the neighborhood.  Our neighborhood is CRAZY.  So many people come here to get candy. It has been that way since I was a kid.

Meet The Wicked Witch of the East, Dorothy, and the Cowardly Lion.  Tin man and the Scarecrow were not with us since mommy and daddy didn't feel like dressing up :)

Wednesday we took the kids to the carnival at Jordyn's school. After that, we ran over to the sports complex and watched a firework show.  It was a really great display and we kept warm in the van.  Friday night we ran over to a rent-a center place which promised all kinds of fun but turned out to be not quite as much fun as we were hoping. We met up with our cousin pals there. Glenn, Amber, Reese (the kitty) and Max (the sock monkey).  From there we took off towards our house for a night of freezing cold trick-or-treating. Kali and Ryan invited cousins Nylah and Chris to come over and hand out candy and watch a movie from our house while we were out with the kids. Kali kept Audrey which was a huge help.  Look for pictures of Kali in her 80's costume that she had on earlier in the day.  It was 80's day at Wasilla Middle School where she worked. Hilarious! They dressed up all week with the different themed day.  She was sick of dressing up by the end of 80's day!
