Potatoes

Amber, a cousin and super friend,  called me up the other day and asked if I would want to go with her to collect potatoes from the fields at 4-corners. The tractor isn't able to get every potato as it plows through and they allow whoever wants to do the work, to come and pick up the left overs.  I guess it is called gleaning. I remembered doing that when I was a kid with my mom in these same fields. Pretty cool.  It was fun taking the kiddos there. They loved that there was a huge field full-o-dirt. What kid wouldn't be in heaven right?  They loved finding potatoes too. Kaci and her cousin Reese carried around their own grocery sacks and Eli had to come running to me every time he found a potato. He loved it.  By the way, digging for potatoes in the fall has always been fun for me.  It somehow feels like we are on a little treasure hunt looking to see how many and how big the next plant has produced.  It isn't quite the same gleaning for them, but we sure came away with a lot of free potatoes and the kids had a great time!

The kids more into the dirt than the potatoes.

Thanks for the day Amber...we had fun!
