I've been spending more time at the indoor track lately for exercise instead of staying in the house where it gets a little boring. I'd like to do some races this spring/summer so I realize that I needed to start running more frequently. It is all part of reaching my weight loss goals and feeling empowered with the thoughts that I can indeed move my body. Running makes me feel like I am really doing something. Well, on one of my trips to the track (the kids come along) I was feeling pretty good. I had 3 laps left to complete my 5 miles for the day (more than I usually do) when sweet Kaci reached out her hand with a piece of paper folded in it as I was running by. I have to admit that my first thought was to wait and tell her to hold onto it until I was done. I was tired, but I took the paper anyways and kept running. I was so glad I did. I held onto it until I finished. Here is what she handed me:

Here is a picture of our track. And yes, this is uphill. I like it here cause it has pretend hills-up on one side, down on the other. Also it is nice and cold in here since it circles the hockey rink below.
I'm thinking of working towards the half marathon in June. Ryan did it last year and is planning for a second time. I would love to do it with him (not at his pace) but just to finish. I didn't even consider it until recently. It isn't until the middle of June, so I know I have time to train, I just have to stay motivated. I actually made it 6 miles so far. 13 sounds killer but would feel so great to accomplish it! Anyone else have big plans for runs this summer?? Wish me luck!

That's so nice that you have such a great indoor track close to home. Best wishes with you half marathon goal.
Way to go Jess!!! I've lost some motivation and need to jump back on that train cause the heat is coming to TN soon :) I love you new fam pic, its beautiful :)
I am doing the mayor's marathon as a relay with a few others. It's broken into like 7 or 8 mile stretches so it shouldn't be to bad! We should run together sometime! :)
