backyard hike

Some days it just feels right to go out for a good hike. It was a beautiful day and we love the outdoors, so why not. Our neighbor Warren (a long time friend) is an avid outdoorsman and has a really big german shepherd... perfect for scaring any bears away that might be lurking in the bushes... was nice enough let us go with him and his daughter April. We took off up the road we live on until we hit the mountains. Basically our backyard. I love Alaska.

This was a nice place once we got off the 4 wheeler trail. We crossed a little creek, Warren was a trooper carrying all my kids across. I walked across myself and it was freezing! I don't think I could have gone back and forth as many times as he did!

Oh and how I'd like to forget this part: Doggin (the bear sniffer), on our way home ATE a dead rotting squirrel that was laying in a mud puddle. The sickest thing I have ever seen! He just gulped it down whole. Sad that is probably my most prominent memory of this hike. I still get the shivers thinking of it.

Eli pooped out on the way back home. Lots of whining. He looks pretty happy now! Thanks neighbor.

Is this hike in addition to the one where you all got stung by bees. Hmmm... being prego in the summer sure sucks... I missed out on all the fun. :(
