Ryan and I finished our half marathons! This was my first and
Ryan's second year. The race takes
place during the weekend of the summer solstice (A very long day
here in Alaska). The trail winds around a scenic coastal trail in Anchorage. My goal was to run the entire race(13.1 miles) without walking and Ryan's was to finish in 1 hour 45 minutes. We reached our goals and Ryan surprised us both with a time 6 minutes faster than he had hoped! He had a great sprint at the finish line. A girl runner had come up beside him sprinting as well. They literally raced to the finish neither one wanting to let the other pass. I was sad I missed that! It was nice that Ryan finished before me as he was there cheering me on at the end. Thanks Ryan!
Ryan finished in 56th place out of 460 men and 9th out of his age group. He was the first finisher from the valley where we live. I was happy at 332nd out of 958 women :) Will I do it again? Not sure. Maybe the 5 miler will work for me next year.
Jessica's time: 2 hours 14 minutes 54 seconds
Ryan's time: 1 hour 39 minutes 40 seconds

Congratulations!! That is a terrific accomplishment for both of you. How long did you train?
Adam's Birthday is the longest day of the year. It sure was for Shirley!

Awesome times, Ryan & Jessica! That was really an accomplishment and you should be so proud! We are really happy you reached your goals. Maybe I'll try the 10K here in Herriman, but I won't do much running.
